Steel staircase, Fresnel | |
Life depending on fate (or faith) is a central idea developed in the process of creating this work. By flipping and hanging the steel staircase, its normal functions are taken away, and at the same time, its inherent materiality is reactivated. The light spot on the wall reflecting the light from the Fresnel connects the room to the sculpture and fuses them into one entity. It also functions as the lighting source for the whole work. Miner's essential task of searching for valuables? /gold? /truth? /faith? and their lack of basic life and social guarantees is a simple symbolic paradox. This sculptural installation attempts elevating their duties to a level of nobility and spirit. |
