Cello
Plywood, plinth, seamlessly looped video projection, fir

A female cellist is bowing a cello in the video. The function of a cello bridge is to transmit the string vibration to the body in order to amplify the sound. However, the whole installation is silent. The sculpted plywood bridge, being enlarged and detached from its context of an instrument, is displayed with an almost ritualized attention. The object that was crucial in amplifying the sound now actually magnifies the silence.
The shape of the isolated bridge is easily associative of a masculine body, which has rather opposite aesthetics in comparison with a cello, whose shape is on the contrary reminiscent of the female torso. Both sexes are incarnated and having parallel existence in a single piece of instrument.
